Blogmas Day 1: It's me, hi!

Hey, hello, ho ho ho! It’s Blogmas, baby!

If you’re not new to laughing at leigh ann and all of my holiday shenanigans, congratulations! You’ve safely ventured from Wordpress to substack, where all go forward content will exist! If you were on my mailing list previously, you’re all good! Sit back, relax, and prepare for some hot (chocolate) takes over the coming weeks.

If you are new, welcome. Thank you so much for being here! The first day of Blogmas is usually reserved for some really kitschy Christmas fun, but because we’re both new here, I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce myself… and fill you in on what you can expect, should you decide to subscribe!

Hello, hello, I’m Leigh Ann. I hope you’re not shocked to learn that this isn’t a feed dedicated to laughing at someone who is not me. We love self-deprecating humor around here!

I was born and raised in West Virginia, “Just outside the capital,” is how I’ve described it 1,487,326 times in my life. I think it’s the most beautiful place on earth, and am not currently open to debate the topic.

That said, about ten years ago, I fell in looove, got married, and landed in Cincinnati for a year, and then in Columbus, where I will likely freeze my ass off for the rest of my days. To me, this is, and always will be, big city living. Just call me Hannah Montana, best of both worlds, definitely chilled out and took it slow, now trying my best to rock out the show.

I live here in Columbus with my husband, Kyle (more often referred to, lovingly, as Queenie), and my cat, Chuck (the cutest girl). I work in fashion, but my job is math centric which is hilarious because: 1. math is so hard and 2. my degree is in fine arts. While I love my job, my emo roots run deep. So, when I’m not working, you can find me painting, reading, here, or hammering out chapters in a book that’s 10+ years in the making and will never be finished.

What can you expect from me here on substack? Definitely Halloween and Christmas content. Today kicks off the first day of Blogmas, which runs through Christmas day and will include festive fun ranging from gift ideas to holiday nonsense you should absolutely skip on Netflix. There’s a bunch of other stuff too, including the occasional Youtube video, often documenting my failed attempts at baking something I’ve never once made before.

When I’m not moonlighting as Buddy the Elf, I like to share monthly favorites ranging from food, to beauty, to books. I’ve even been known to throw in a little mental health ditty here and there! The goal is cozy, comfy, easy reads!

That’s that, in a nutshell! Some housekeeping: 1. None of my links are affiliate links (mostly because I don’t know how any of that works), so you can rest assured that anything I’m recommending I’ve used and loved or know someone who has used and loved it. I’m not making any money to share my opinions, but if I someday am, I’ll let you know! 2. We’re a work in progress over here, still unpacking, if you will. The old content is all here, it’s just missing pictures, tags, etc. I’ll be working on updating all that over the coming months!

And last, but most certainly not least, big virtual hug to my best friend, Crystal for always encouraging me to write, manning all the technical and aesthetic stuff for my endeavors, and just being one of my very favorite humans <3
