Blogmas Day 11: 2024 Best in Beauty, Skincare
There’s no way I could share all of my makeup favorites without sharing the steps that keep my skin hydrated and healthy! I kept it pretty simple this year, but have lots of favorites!
Starting with cleanser, and I’ve got three favorites! The BYOMA Creamy Jelly Cleanser is super gentle for sensitive skin, does a great job of removing makeup, and is a tried and true first cleanse. I always follow it up with the Proactiv Clean Mineral Acne Cleanser. If I have any makeup leftover after the first cleanse, this does the trick, while also nourishing my rosacea and acne prone skin. Lastly, if you’re into an oil cleanse as a first step, the Krave Beauty Makeup Re-Wined is awesome! I don’t reach for this everyday, but I always use it to take the day off when I’m wearing heavier makeup.

My second step is toner. I am fully on the hypochlorous acid bandwagon. I love both the Tower 28 SOS Spray and the Prequel Universal Skin Solution. They do the exact same thing, just depends on the price point and delivery method you prefer (Tower 28 is a spritz, Prequel is a mist). On days when my skin feels especially reactive, I reach for the Byoma Hydrating Milky Toner. If I’m feeling oilier or dealing with breakouts, I’ll wait for the hypochlorous acid to to dry completely before applying the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner.

Next up, treatment. With respect, this is where I feel the skincare girlies have gone a little too overboard. Treat your top 1-3 problems with 1-3 solutions, and leave the rest on the shelves. As I mentioned, I have sensitive skin with acne and rosacea, and I’ve been opting for the Proactiv Clean Azelaic Pore Perfector for two years. It’s so good, and I notice if I’ve skipped this step. When I have breakouts, I spot treat with the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Treatment and it is fantastic! Best spot treatment I’ve ever used, and saves me from the irritation of an all over benzoyl peroxide application.

Somewhere between a treatment and a moisturizer, is SkinFix’s Dermatitis Relief Balm - an excellent noncomedogenic solution for rough patches of skin.
After we treat, we moisturize. I’m a serial moisturizer purchaser. I try many, and I love few. I just repurchased the Naturium Multi-Peptide Moisturizer for the third time, so fair to say, it’s a love. This is a heavier moisturizer that plays really well with makeup! During the summer when my skin is a little oiler, I love the Face Reality Hydrabalance and Proactiv Green Tea Moisturizer. Both are really similar lightweight gels, and perfect for summer!

For under eye cream, I’ve reached for these two over and over this year, the Cocokind Revitalizing Eye Cream is a thick under eye moisturizer great for dry, winter weather. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Under Eye Gel Cream is a lightweight gel texture great for year round.

Finally, when it comes to lips, I’m still Balm Dotcom’s biggest fan, but sometimes I need a scrub, and e.l.f.’s Lip Exfoliator is the best I’ve ever tried. Amazing price point and easy application, can’t be beat!
What am I missing here? Open to trying your favorite winter serum or moisturizer!
