Blogmas Day 18: Best and Worst of Holiday Streaming Volume 2
Just when I thought there were no more cheesy new Christmas movies to stream, half a dozen pop up and prove me wrong! As we settle into this final week before the big day, I hope you have some time to cuddle up on the couch and put these reviews to use!
The Best
Your Christmas or Mine 2 on Prime Video - This is a rare case of sequel is as good if not better than the first. I loved Your Christmas or Mine last year, and this was a sugary sweet follow up to the oil and water colliding love story of Hayley and James. Grab a tissue for some happy tears!
Bottom line: 5 out of 5 Christmas Fitbits
The Good
Dashing Through the Snow on Hulu - This is a packed-with-family-fun movie starring none other than Ludacris. There are so many laugh out loud moments, you just might find some of your holiday trauma healed, just like Luda’s character, Eddie did. If you’re a fan of The Santa Clause, you will adore this movie!
Bottom line: 4.5 out of 5 Santas on the run!
Feast of the Seven Fishes on Netflix and Prime Video - Turns out, this is actually not a new one, but it’s new to me, so thought I would share! The vibe of this movie is an endearing mix of The Mindy Project’s Danny Castellano’s life and Garden State. It’s quietly hilarious and touchingly real, and while I’m sure it’s not for everyone, I liked it a lot!
Bottom line: 4 out of 5 hometown holidays
The I wanted to love but was just okay… verging on bad
Christmas with the Campbells on Hulu - I had high hopes for this one because it’s starring two A-listers, Brittany Snow and Justin Long, but let me just say, good writing plays a huge role in good acting. The plot is like many Christmas movies that came before it - based in a small town and wildly predictable, but there was a cute dog and some off the wall funny moments, so I’ll give it that!
Bottom line: 3 out of 5 wishing trees (but better than Best. Christmas. Ever.)
And finally, I’ll save you some time by telling you that Reporting for Christmas on Hulu is not quite worth a rating because it was so meh, I couldn’t even finish it.
Have you streamed any fun new holiday movies? I’m just getting into the classics, but want to make sure I haven’t missed anything!
