Blogmas Day 19: 2024 Best in TV
2024 was a banner year for tv! And I genuinely can’t wait for what 2025 has to offer post strike (hugs to all the writers who fought the good fight for fairer wages and better working conditions, you’re artists and I love ya!). Here’s what I loved, in the order of release:
I was destined to love Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Amazon Prime Video) from the start! Donald Glover, marry me. Maya Erskine, marry me. The both of ya, marry each other! And that, they kind of did. My two favorite spies kept me laughing and on the edge of my seat beyond the very last second of this show. Bottom line: 10/10
I’m so very late to the party having just discovered Bridgerton (Netflix) in 2024, but I devoured all of it, and season 3 focusing on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s relationship is *chef’s kiss*. If you’re out of the loop, think Gossip Girl, only in the 1800s. I love the cast. I love the costumes. I love Claudia Jessie. This show is sexy and funny and light, a must watch. Bottom line: 9/10
Another party I was late to? The Bear (Hulu). And oh my gosh was I missing out! Maybe my favorite dramedy ever - The Bear details a grieving, dysfunctional family’s chaotic venture from local hole in the wall deli to Michelin hopeful restaurant ownership. I love this cast and the way they tell stories. Bottom line: 12/10
Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) did not disappoint! Our core three amateur detectives are unfortunately investigating the death of a close friend, while also taking part in the making of a movie about themselves. Selena, Steve, and Martin are an absolute dream team! Bottom line: 10/10
It will shock no one who knows me to read that I absolutely loved Agatha All Along (Disney+). The very witchy, delightfully spooky follow up to WandaVision left me wanting more. Join Agatha and her makeshift coven as they face trial after trial on the Witches’ Road. Bottom line: 10/10
Nobody Wants This (Netflix) was the romcom series of my dreams. Starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody (SO handsome), this season follows Joanne, a quirky, sex positive podcast host, and Noah, a rabbi, through their wacky journey to love. The obstacles are big, but their love is somehow bigger, and funnier. Bottom line: 15/10
Season 4 of Outer Banks (Netflix) was the wildest yet. Our young treasure hunting pogues have finally laid down roots in The Cut, but when their home is threatened, they agree to their next hunt in an attempt to save it all. The ending will leave your jaw on the floor. Bottom line: 12/10
There was so much to love on streaming in 2024. What did I miss? The winter months loom ahead and I’m open to a new watch!
