I love autumn, and to be honest, I’m always a little sad putting away the fall decorations and watching the trees transition from vibrant oranges and reds to bare branches for the next few months. BUT, we’ve had a very cold weekend in Columbus, and at least until December 26th, it’s gotten me in the holiday spirit! And you know what that means - a bucket list of festive fun!
KYLE, this one is for you. I’m putting it in the TOP spot so that YOU, Kyle, will see it. I want to go on a festive Columbus date. A couple of years ago, we had a work holiday party in downtown Columbus, and everything was so twinkly and pretty, and I can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on all the Christmas fun the 614 has to offer while tucked away here in the ‘burbs.
Shop small. I love to shop small, and you should too! There are tons of avenues for shopping small, but if that feels daunting to you, start with Etsy. I’m not exaggerating at all when I tell you that Etsy is the Amazon of shopping small. If you can dream it up, someone (with rave selling reviews) has made it.
This year, I really want to pursue the lights. In additional to Columbus Zoo’s Wildlights, Columbus (and my hometown in WV) have much to offer in the way of Christmas lights. There’s nothing more festive than a chilly walk or drive through all the twinkling lights.
I’m trying my very best to stay super organized throughout this holiday season. Between my parents and in-laws living out of state, friends scattered all over the country, this little blog, and frankly, a lot of phobia surrounding all the social engagements and germs (ew), it’s so easy for me to fly by the seat of my pants and sacrifice a good mood in the name of doing so. Not this year though, I hope! 🤞
I really want to do a holiday art project. I actually have a very silly idea in mind, and hope to share more on that soon ◡̈.
Last, but most certainly not least, I’m keeping the reason for the season as my focus. I feel like it gets easier and easier to summarize each year as, “another tough one,” but that’s just part of growing older, and that attitude also represents a distance between me and the reason for this season (and all the others, as well). I’m trying to slow down, spend intentional time with my loved ones, and rest up for a new year that I’ll be grateful to embark upon.
What’s on your holiday bucket list?
