I’m either reading a ton, or I’m not, no in between. Unfortunately, you’re catching me at a not time. But, before I fell into a reading rut, I flew through probably my favorite spooky book ever, and last year I read an adorable two part series, so let’s talk about ‘em.
Best for first is Cackle by Rachel Harrison. Annie just turned thirty while in the thick of a breakup with the one, Sam, who she just so happens to still live with. I mean, terrible all around. Without Sam, she can’t afford rent in NYC, so she’s seeking a fresh start in rural New England as a teacher. From the very start in her new town, things are off, that is until Annie meets Sophie - and then things are way off. This book is creepy, full of girl power and a crash course in seeing both the best and worst in everyone you meet. I loved this one!
10/10 Witch’s Brooms
Next up, The Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling. These are the perfect mixture of romance, spook, and hilarity, making them very well-rounded Halloween reads. Both stories follow relatively similar plots and characters, but I loved knowing what to expect and what I was going to get out of these. Witch meets warlock, witch is annoyed by warlock, potential earth-shattering spooky crisis that can only be solved by witch and warlock joining forces, and despite a general distaste for one another at the start, they ultimately fall in love and save the world. And they all lived spookily ever after! Cozy towns that take their witch populations seriously - each book created a world I’d love to jump into, you know, once the curses were broken. Seriously though, I enjoyed both, and can definitely see myself rereading in spooky szns to come. Fair warning though, I found them both to be a little spicy.
8/10 Tarot Decks

I’d love to squeeze in one more Halloween read before cobwebs are replaced with mistletoe. Any recommendations?
