Blogoween Day 12: Halloween All Time Favorites

Happy All Hallow's Eve eve, which, much like Christmas Eve, is actually the best day because the magic isn't over yet. It has been a very fitting dreary few days in our neck of the woods, and the motivation to do, well, anything, has just not been there. We've spent the day in comfy clothes burning fall candles and watching "scary" movies. This morning, I dumped a ton of Halloween sprinkles into our traditional weekend pancake batter, and I have zero regrets. Anyway, on this next to last day of Blogoween, I wanted to share some Halloween favorites of mine over the years.

Movies & Television

No matter what, year after year, the ones that mean the most to me are The Ghost and Mr. Chicken and (duh, sorry) Hocus Pocus. There are a gazillion other movies and tv episodes I love to watch, but if I'm pressed for time, those two are non-negotiable. Actually scary? Hands down, The Ring. Best Halloween episodes? Community, by a long shot.

Candy

Nerd rope, always. In a former life when I could eat dairy, Twix was tied.

Costume

First, let me say that there's a huge gap in documentation of my Halloweens past. I've got a ballerina, a witch, and then a 20 year space where I think actual printed photos and a lost archive of Myspace pictures are to blame for erasing those costumes. Seeing as my witch makeup left something to be desired, I'm only left with recent costumes, and of those, my favorite is either Cher Horowitz or Betty Cooper (actually, it's the iPod, but you've already seen that).

Tradition

Nowadays, it's definitely visiting the pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins with Kyle. We've carved together every year that we've known each other so it's really special. Previous to moving to Ohio though, my all time favorite tradition was visiting The Pumpkin House. It's seriously the most magical experience, and if you ever find yourself near Kenova, WV the week of Halloween, it's a can't miss experience.

Memory

I love Halloween (Really? Please tell us more...), so it's really just a jumble of good times. I once won Most Unique at a costume party when I made my own costume and went as The Wind circa middle school. I was desperately lost in a corn maze with friends in high school. In college, we had parties and visited haunted houses and generally had an excellent time because university towns live for Halloween. In recent years, a few of my best friends visited Columbus for what we've dubbed (the) Halloweekend, and it was so much fun.
