BlogOWeen Day 4: Costume Ideas
I am so behind on costume curation this year! Realistically, I’m not sure I’ll be able to pull something new together, but I wanted to share some costume ideas I love, but won’t be using ◡̈
Weird Barbie - admittedly, 2024 is light on brand new pop culture references, but Weird Barbie is all of us. She’s an icon, and icons are always relevant. Here’s how I’d transform into Weird Barbie: Pink Dress, Green Tulle Skirt, Green Converse. All are re-wearable, but I would definitely take the dress a step further by using fabric paint to mimic the fun print on Weird Barbie’s dress, and spritz my hair with colored spray, which can be found in the Halloween section at your local drugstore.
Any member of Bridgerton’s ton - I had an itch early in the costume planning process to dress up as Lady Whistledown herself, but again, time is not really on my side anymore. Amazon has a great selection of gowns, all with rave reviews. Throw in some white satin gloves, a “summer muff” (lol, that interview is my Roman Empire), and your own edition of Penelope’s scathing gossip column, and alas, Lady Whistledown: Regency Dress w/White Gloves (xoxo GG newsletter not included).
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - I’m sad to share this last one because my heart is so in it, but my partner in crime is a little under the weather… Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. As in like, we’re both Beetlejuice… like the movie… see what I did there? Beetlejuice actually has quite the wardrobe, but I stumbled upon pajamas in his signature vertical black and white stripe, and thought they’d be perfect (and get some real life use, too). Add some white hairspray, sunken eye makeup, and green skin, and you’re ready to help the recently deceased: Beetlejuice PJs.
You know what, though? Never say never. Maybe one of these ideas will be making my own instagram feed here in the next week or so! What are you dressing up as this year?
xoxo
