BlogOWeen Day 5: Beauty Dupes So Good, They’re Scary!
I’m not sure why dupes became a joke this year, but they did. Are dupes good? Are they bad? I don’t know, but I’m going to share some that I’ve really been enjoying.
First things first, if you don’t have a tubing mascara in your collection, what are you doing? Not to brag, but I’m pretty sure Clinique actually released the first tubing mascara, and I was definitely using it in high school, which was… clearly, yesterday. Anyway, if you’re a fan of Thrive, Glossier, Clinique, or Merit tubing mascaras, may I kindly introduce you to e.l.f. Lash ‘N Roll? I’ve tried and loved half of the aforementioned mascaras, but this one is not only one third of the price, it’s better. AND, it comes in brown. For six dollars, you can have luxurious, long, separated lashes! I’m on my third tube and there’s no turning back!
Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter was the skincare/makeup item heard ‘round the globe this past year. And then, when no one could get their hands on it, e.l.f. dropped a dupe at less than half the price, the Halo Glow Liquid Filter. Full disclosure, I’ve tried neither of these products, just seen 1938382823948 videos of others trying them, but wtf even are they? Skincare? Makeup? Primer? Foundation? According to Sephora’s app, CT boasts hers as a complexion booster, but what does that mean? Anyway, previous to all that, I purchased Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, not the concealer one, but that’s also great, and WOW. It’s so much less confusing because it’s a great multitasker, providing glow, moisture, coverage, and SPF (!!) all in one! Anyway, clocking in at $11, it’s an even cheaper alternative to e.l.f., so save your money and glow on!
Lastly, though I could go on forever, if any product gave ole Charlotte a run for her money this year, it was the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator. Don’t get me wrong, I love this product and I love Paula. She’s been solving an array of my skincare needs for the last decade, but she’s a wee bit pricy. And, why not save when you can? Enter peach slices Acne Exfoliating Toner. She’s super dupey. I haven’t compared ingredient lists, but their texture and scent is identical, as are the results, and for $11, sign me up.
So, before you go putting on all your spooky Halloween makeup, consider some budget friendly gems for your routine. Any great dupes I’m missing?
