BlogOWeen Day 6: #Trending Costume Ideas
Let me guess, you waited until the last minute and now you need a costume for all the upcoming Halloween festivities? Something funny, or spooky, or topical, even - I got you!
Let's start with the one I wish I'd thought of sooner, then work through some other fun ideas...
Weird Barbie, WHY oh why did I not think of this a month ago? Kyle and I are too far in to turn back on our current costumes, which are excellent, but I am sure Weird Barbie would garner tons of laughs no matter where your costume takes you. All you need is a pink puff sleeve dress, outrageous green boots (I'd probably wear these again), fabric paint, and colored hairspray and there you are, Weird Barbie! I think this costume is super open-ended though, because lets be honest, we're all a little bit Weird Barbie, right?
Speaking of Barbie coded costume ideas, the options for Ken and of course, Allan, are endless. Whether you opt for a Ken who has one job, beach, or a Ken who's in his mojo dojo casa house era, I think some combo of digging through your dad's/grandpa's/swim coach's/local thrift store's closets will present you with everything you'll need. But, if you want to reign supreme among the men of Barbieland, just grab this polo and channel your inner Allan. We love you, Allan!
Need a couples costume idea? Easy! How about Hailey and Justin out on the town? Is this idea original? No. Is it hilarious? Every time. If you're an elder millennial, like myself, you're probably able to accomplish this with your time capsule wardrobe from high school, but if not, it's still pretty easy! Grab a red dress and yellow crocs, and the resemblance is uncanny!
Need a coordinated group costume? Okay, you and all your besties are headed to the Eras Tour, but you've gone all out. A coworker's daughter and her friends are doing this for Halloween, and I think it seems so fun! Choose an era, deck yourself out, spend an evening making a literal TON of friendship bracelets, and celebrate your best Halloween ever (Taylor's version).
Last, and probably best, because I will never give up on my dream of becoming a mermaid, Ariel! Did you see live action The Little Mermaid this summer? I did. I laughed, cried (okay, wept), and relived all of the magic and then some. Halle Bailey was truly spectacular as Ariel, and I have a feeling I'll see quite a few little mermaids during trick-or-treat this year. Try some fun scale leggings like these (you could add fins on the lower legs for extra pizzazz!), a fun purple coat to keep warm, and then go nuts with body glitter and hair rhinestones. Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they have all the Halloween fun!
Who are you going to be for Halloween?
xoxo Enough
